Tunis, 30 January 2016:

No communiqué was issued after prime minister-designate Faiez Serraj flew to Marj today for talks . . .[restrict]with armed forces commander General Khalifa Hafter at his headquarters. At the start of the visit both men posed a trifle awkwardly for photographers.

Serraj was with two of his five deputies, Ali Gatrani and Fathi Majbar, the former having rejoined the Presidential Council at the urging of the House of Representatives on Monday. Hafter had with him Air Force commander Saqr Adam Geroushi and army chief of staff Major-General Abdul Razzaq Nazhuri.

Both Serraj and Hafter were in Cairo earlier this week and there was speculation that they had met.
