Tunis, 15 January 2015:
Renewed clashes in Obari have today left one person dead and at least seven injured including . . .[restrict]a young child.
This latest violence, which the news agency LANA reported involved bombardments by medium and heavy weapons, comes after a few days of uneasy peace. On Tuesday the truce between Tuaregs and Tebu, brokered last November by Qatar, was once again broken. In that exchange of fire, the town’s historic castle was damaged.
Both sides continue to claim that they were attacked by the other. The plight all those injured is made worse by the almost complete lack of drugs and medical supplies in the town’s hospital which has managed to keep going with only a skeleton staff of volunteers. [/restrict]
