Tunis, 11 January 2016:

The thirty people kidnapped from the city of Sabratha being held in the neighouring city . . .[restrict]of Surman were released yesterday, Sabratha Municipality Council reports.

The 30 were arrested on the main motorway linking the two cities. Drivers were stopped and asked to identify where they were from, and those from Sabratha were taken by the kidnappers.

They were kidnapped to be used as a bargaining tool in revenge for the Sabratha and Surman authorities having arrested their fellow gang members implicated in the kidnapping of the three Shershary children in December.
