Tripoli, 22 January 2016:
Algeria has said that it is no longer accepting the old green Libyan passports. Passengers, . . .[restrict]whether arriving or in transit must carry the new blue e-passports.
The move breaks ranks with the international community which had acknowledged the shambles in issuing the new passports, thanks largely to inadequate computer systems. People have been waiting months for their new travel document.
Last August, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the UN body responsible for border-crossing rules which now require e-passports, granted an indefinite exemption for Libyans who still had valid Qaddafi-era green passports.
