Tunis, 19 January 2016:
EU Foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini has welcomed the Government of National Accord and said . . .[restrict]that it is now up to the House of Representatives to show the same spirit of compromise and leadership and vote its approval.
“Libya is at a critical juncture,” she said, “and it is crucial that all key political and security actors uphold the interests of their country and its people above all others”.
Only a united Libyan government supported by all its citizens could defeat terrorism and deal with the country’s numerous security, humanitarian and economic challenges.
She added that EU foreign ministers had yesterday in Brussels reaffirmed their readiness to support the GNA once its took office.
The HoR has ten days in which to hold a vote. There are unconfirmed reports that it will meet on Monday. [/restrict]
