Tunis, 17 January 2016:
UNSMIL chief Martin Kobler has today condemned the extra 48 hours being taken by . . .[restrict]prime minister-designate Faiez Serraj to form the Government of National Accord.
“I regret the decision of the Presidency Council to postpone the formation of the Government of National Accord” he Tweeted, adding “Libya can no longer wait”.
British ambassador Peter Millett said the delay was disappointing because the new government was needed urgently to deal with terrorism and rescue the economy.
Kobler was this morning in Shahat where he met HoR president Ageela Salah pressing him to ensure that the parliament approves the Libyan Political Agreement and the GNA led by prime minister-designate Faiez Serraj. [/restrict]
