Benghazi, 7 December 2015:
Libyan air force planes bombed targets in divided Ajdabiya today. There were also air raids . . .[restrict]on militants’ positions outside Derna and in Benghazi’s Buatni and Sidi Faraj districts. The latter was claimed to have been captured by the Libyan National Army (LNA) from militants last year.
The attacks in Ajdabiya follow calls from local elders to the LNA last week to go to the town and impose law and order. It has seen a wave a killings of security officials and Salafist preachers. The pro-jihadist Ajdabiya Revolutionaries’s Shoura Council has been accused of responsibility for them.
The town is the most divided and among the most dangerous in Libya at present, with several competing military/political groupings.
There were air raids at Ajdabiya last week. There have been no casualty figures announced for them or for today’s strikes. [/restrict]
