Tunis, 28 November 2015:

Opponents to the Libya Dialogue agreement and the proposed Government of National Accord (GNA) from the House of Representatives and the General National Congress have met in Tunis and joined forces to try and prevent the agreement and the GNA from happening.

All but one or two of the 27 participants were from eastern Libya, Benghazi in particular, and the majority of those attending were from the GNC. Of these several were Islamists, unlike those from the HoR, but opposition to the UN-brokered deal brought them together.

In a press statement, they said the deal and GNA “do not meet the requirements, nor are consistent, with the foundations of reconciliation”.

Participants included Benghazi HoR member and former member of the HoR’s Libya Dialogue team Abubakr Buera, as well as Benghazi GNC member Ahmed Langhi.
