Tripoli, 5 November 2015:
The National Oil Corporation in Tripoli has declared force majeure at Zueitina oil terminal and its . . .[restrict]closure following Central Petroleum Facilities Guard commander Ibrahim Jadhran shutting it down. in what has been reported as a move to prevent the authorities in Tripoli gaining oil income from its use.
In a letter signed by Mustafa Sanalla, the NOC chairman recognised by the Tripoli authorities, the NOC said that it could not honour agreements to load oil at the terminal.
Jadhran’s closure of the terminal has been presented as a move in solidarity with the HoR and the Thinni government against the regime in Tripoli. A tanker arrived to take oil earlier this week in a deal approved by the Tripoli NOC. It has been prevented from loading. According to Jadhran’s spokesman, Ali Al-Hassi, the closure was justified by the fact that the Tobruk-based NOC was the only oil seller and contractor recognised by the IMF and OPEC. [/restrict]
