Tripoli, 31 October 2015:
Smugglers reportedly offered Tobruk police officers a LD 50,000 bribe after they were caught with . . .[restrict]a large consignment of alcohol.
Local customs officials who took part in the bust on the outskirts of town did not say how much liquor, which originated from Egypt, was involved. Nor is it clear how many people were detained.
“When they were arrested, they offered the police officers a bribe of LD 50,000 to let them go” local police chief Hani Saad Al-Maryami told Alwasat.
The money had been refused. The suspects and the illegal alcohol were all sent to the general prosecutor in Benghazi. [/restrict]
