Tripoli, 25 October 2015:
The Libyan Red Crescent has said that the number of bodies found near Zliten in the . . .[restrict]latest migrant drowning tragedy has now risen to 45.
The number found at Zliten, 160 kilometres east of Tripoli, was put at 31 yesterday, an official with the Red Crescent told the Libya Herald. All were said to be from sub-Saharan Africa.
On Friday evening the Red Crescent recovered 10 dead from the shore at Khoms, 40 kilometres further west. Three more bodies were recovered the same day at Garabulli, 35 kilometres east of Tripoli. It is suspected that all of them came from the same vessel.
It is feared that there are other bodies still to be recovered from areas between the three places.
With winter approaching, the Mediterranean has become much rougher and crossing it far more dangerous. [/restrict]
