Benghazi, 5 July 2015:
Four armed men today threatened Benghazi Medical Centre staff and trashed furniture after a friend was . . .[restrict]denied a scan because the equipment was broken.
BMC spokesman Khalil Kouider told the Libya Herald that patients, doctors and nurses in the hospital’s emergency room panicked as the men, who besides guns also had hand grenades, demanded a fifth man be given a scan on a broken bone.
In vain did staff explain the CT scanner at the hospital needed repairs and was not working. Kouider said the angry gunmen rampaged through department damaging furniture and fittings.
He added that by acting as if they owned everything, their thuggish behaviour had disrupted and jeopardised the treatment of other patients, some of whom had far more serious medical conditions.
The gunmen left the hospital without being arrested by security staff. [/restrict]
