Tunis, 17 May 2015:
Reports last Monday that the director of Tripoli Central Hospital, Dr Abdul Jalil Ghraibi, was . . .[restrict]kidnapped appear now to have been confirmed. Buwabat Alwasat reports a source at the hospital corroborating the story.
Ghraibi had been reported being seized and taken away by an armed gang who had stormed the hospital. No reason is known for the abduction although it is widely suspected that it is politically motivated. Ghraibi comes from Rajban which is allied to Zintan in the current conflict with Libya Dawn.
On the other hand, it is entirely possible that Ghraibi was taken by people angry about the treatment of a patient. Such incidents have happened before.
Meanwhile, there is no news of the whereabouts of lawyer Al-Mabrouk Tantoush who was abducted in Tripoli by an armed gang a fortnight ago. A long-standing resident in the city with no political involvement but who has had a certain prominence because of his involvement with Al-Ahly Tripoli football club, he also is a member of the Warshefana. It is thought this may have been the cause for his abduction. [/restrict]
