Tripoli, 11 May 2015:
A delegation from the House of Representatives (HoR) along with a number of civil society activists . . .[restrict]and journalists visited the Warshefana area yesterday, Sunday, in what is seen as a move to consolidate links between the two.
“The main purpose of the visit is assess the humanitarian needs of Warshefana people and the surrounding areas,” Hamza Al-Amrooni from the HoR presidential office, told the Libya Herald. “The additional aim is to meet with some commanders of the Libyan National Army (LNA) and get an update about the military situation on the ground,” he added.
The delegation included Warshfana member of the HoR from Janzour, Bashir Ali Al-Ahmar and HoR spokesperson Faraj Buhashim as well as human rights activist Naser Al-Hawari. A number of journalists also accompanied it.
Almost all the Washefana area is now under Warshefana and LNA control including Maya on the coast, west of the Tripoli suburb of Janzour. The one exception is Janzour itself which the Warshefana regard as part of their territory.
The coast road between Tripoli and Zawia, however, remains open despite intermittent closures at Bridge 27 by Warshefana forces. [/restrict]
