Tobruk, 18 March 2015:
The House of Representatives (HoR) Committee of Youth and Sports has called on the government . . .[restrict]to provide loans to young Libyans wanting to get married. The committee, which also covers work and social affairs, further asked the government to create a separate body to oversee the welfare and integration into society of people with disabilities.
The committee met with the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Masoud Belgassem, in Tobruk yesterday.
It asked him to set up a fund to enable young couples to set up home together and which would provide marriage loans, repayable over a period of time. The committee also wants other non-repayable financial support for newly-weds.
According to an HoR official, the minister has promised to let the committee know in two weeks’ time whether such a fund is feasible in the present circumstances. [/restrict]
