Tripoli, 25 March 2015:
Two Bangladeshis, captured by Islamic State (IS) gunmen over two weeks ago, were released yesterday.
Helal . . .[restrict]Uddin and Mohamed Anowar Hossain were seized following an attack on the Ghani oil field early this month. Five other foreigners were kidnapped at the same time, while 11 guards were killed. The fate of the remaining five abducted is not known.
Uddin and Hossain were taken to the hospital in Sirte for evaluation and are said to be physically in good condition.
The Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh and the Embassy of Bangladesh in Libya have indicated that they worked intensely to obtain the release of the two men, but did not specify what steps were taken. [/restrict]
