Tripoli, 9 January 2015:
The Tripoli office of Al-Nabaa TV has been hit by at least one missile overnight, . . .[restrict]which blew out part of the front of the building.
The attack which was condemned both by the Committee of Media, Culture and Islamic Affairs, set up by the rump of the General National Congress, and the Libyan Centre for Freedom of the Press (LCFP).
It is believed that the TV station was struck by one or more rocket-propelled grenades in the early hours of this morning. A security video released by the station showed one side of a news studio disintegrating in a cloud of dust when the rocket struck. Contrary to early reports that three had died in the attack, the GNC committee said n one had been injured.
Al-Nabaa TV which is seen as strongly supporting Libya Dawn and the antigovernment of Omar Al-Hassi has apparently received several warnings. The LCFP said that stations journalists had been harassed and threatened. It called on all sides to respect the freedom of journalists to go about their job of news gathering without intimidation.
