Both sides in . . .[restrict]Libya’s political divide have paid tribute to Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah who died late last night.
In Tripoli, the president of the continuing General National Congress, Nuri Abu Sahmain sent his condolences to the new Saudi monarch, King Salaman, on the death of his predecessor and half-brother.
Similarly in Tobruk, members of the House of Representatives expressed their condolences at King Abdullah’s death.
The Presidency of the General Staff also issued a statement today on behalf of the Chief of Staff Major General Abdul Razaq Nazhuri and officers and members of the Libyan National Army conveying condolences to the Saudi people and government. It notes that Saudi Arabia had been a firm ally of the LNA is its battles against terrorism.
There has, however, so far been no public statements either from either Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thinni nor Omar Al-Hassi in Tripoli. [/restrict]
