Beida, 3 January 2015:
Petroleum Facilities Guards (PFG) claim 77 members of Libya Dawn’s Operation Sunrise were killed yesterday in . . .[restrict]fighting at Wadi Ikhela east of Ben Jawad. The main Sunrise forces were forced to pull back into central Ben Jawad, Central PFG’s spokesman added.
“Yesterday’s fight resulted in 77 dead from the Dawn militias and 145 wounded,” the spokesperson, Ali Al-Hassi, told the Libya Herald. “On our side there were three dead and ten wounded”, he said.
Three of the Sunrise fighters killed are reported elsewhere to have been commanders.
Although the fighting between Operation Sunrise and the Central PFG was fierce yesterday in Wadi Ikhela and Ben Jawad, Hassi said there were no clashes there today. He indicated, however, that another major announcement would be made soon.
Attempts to contact a Operation Sunrise spokesman have been unsuccessful. [/restrict]
