Beida, 30 December 2014:
A Libyan government minister has inspected a security checkpoint on a key bridge on the western . . .[restrict]approach to Beida.
Interior minister Omar Al-Sunki today arrived at the Wadi Al-Kouf bridge on the road to Marj. A ministry spokesman told the Libya Herald that the minister had come to see for himself the effectiveness of the security at this key post and to check that the soldiers manning it had everything that they needed.
The 50 year-old Italian-built bridge, which is nearly 300 metres long, takes the road 160 metres above the wadi. The old road between Marj and Beida once followed part of the wadi floor.
