Tobruk, 10 November 2014:
The President of the House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh Gwaidar met this morning with Sudan’s . . .[restrict]Foreign Minister, Ali Karti, who had flown in from Khartoum to assess the situation in the country.
Karti then flew to Tripoli for talks this afternoon with Omar Al-Hassi.
The visit is a follow-up to that at the end of last month to the Sudanese capital by Thinni which saw the a new relationship being forged after the earlier spat over reports that Sudan had provided support for Libya Dawn, an allegation it denied.
It was reported at the time of Thinni’s visit that he and Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir had agreed to Sudan hosting a meeting of Libya’s neighbours in Khartoum in the near future at which a Libyan peace plan could be discussed and endorsed.
The Sudanese news agency SUNA reported a Sudan Foreign Ministry spokesman saying that the visit would pave the way for Sudanese mediation to ensure Libyan national dialogue and negotiations between all sides. [/restrict]
