Tripoli, 10 November 2014:

Friends of the Student Union President at Tripoli University’s College of Arts and Media reported . . .[restrict]yesterday that he was abducted in the morning but later released in the late evening.

Abdul Hanan Wali, a fellow student union member and a friend of the victim, reported that Student Union President Ahmed Musbah Albi was abducted after his car was stopped while he was driving along Triq Al-Sikka in Tripoli.

According to Wali, Albi’s father called him to ask if he knew anything of Albi’s whereabouts. After calling various friends, Wali reported to the father that no one had seen or heard from him.

Albi’s father was later informed that witnesses had seen some young men stop Albi’s car and force him into their vehicle and drive off with him. Wali and Albi’s father went to retrieve Albi’s car and then report the abduction to the security officials.

After pleading for Albi to be released unharmed, it was reported late last night that he was released.
