Tebu brigades fighting alongside the Libyan National Army (LNA) claim to have driven Libya . . .[restrict]Dawn forces out of their western Obari stronghold of Tendi Mountain as fighting in the southern town intensifies.
“We took control the the Tendi Mountain yesterday after fierce fighting with pro-Libya Dawn forces”, a Tebu commander who asked not to be identified told the Libya Herald.
Since September Tuareg and Tebu fighters have been battling in Obari. Some Tuareg Brigades have pledged allegiance to Libya Dawn with the Tebu fighting with government forces.
Obari is now more or less deserted with most families fleeing to the surrounding area to avoid the clashes.
A truce between Tebu and Tuareg combatants was meant to be signed few days ago. However pro-Libya Dawn Tuaregs, have reportedly broken with their tribal elders. They turned down talks and ignored a temporary ceasefire in the run-up to the truce.
A plane landed in Ghat yesterdaycarrying food supplies to the displaced families from Obari.
It is been also now reported that a few days ago, the Misrata Shourah Council of elders met Ghat elders to search for a way out of the continuing conflict.
There have been sporadic power cuts in the town, despite recent work by engineers to repair damaged power lines.
