Benghazi, 25 September 2014:
Libyan oil production has risen to 900,000 barrels of oil a day according to the . . .[restrict]Libyan news agency LANA. It has quoted a source at the NOC saying that rise is due to the reopening of the Zawia oil refinery and the Sharara field in the south west of the country, which feeds it, again pumping 200,000 b/d.
The Zawia refinery closed a week ago when rocket hit one of its storage tanks, causing the Sharara field to shut down.
A fortnight ago, the NOC predicted that production would reach a million barrels a day by the beginning of October. Despite the political situation, the target now appears feasible.
Meanwhile in the east of the country, it has been announced the Hariga export terminal at Tobruk is again fully operation and that it is exporting an average of 120,000 b/d.
LANA has quoted the terminal’s manager as saying that a million barrels had been exported to China. [/restrict]
