Kufra, 25 September 2014:
A Tuareg man is reported to have been killed in the southwestern oasis town of Obari late this . . .[restrict]afternoon in a brief upsurge of fighting between Tebus and the Tuareg group said to be from outside the area. However, by the evening the situation had calmed and locals have said that the clash was an accident and that mediation between the two groups was continuing.
Fighting between the two groups broke out just over a week ago when the Tuareg group, said to be supporters of Libya Dawn, tried to take over the town’s main petrol station. Since then, there have been mediation endeavours by elders from Zintan, Brak Al-Shatti and the Hasawna tribe. Yesterday, representatives of the Omar Al-Hassi administration in Tripoli arrived to join the efforts.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that one of the Tebu soldiers who was injured in the fighting last week died yesterday in hospital in Tobruk. The funeral of the man, named as 21-year-old Ibrahim Barak Yusuf, took place in Tobruk and was attended by, among others a number of members of the House of Representatives. [/restrict]
