Tripoli, 24 September 2014:
There were clashes yesterday afternoon and evening in Tripoli’s Fashloum district between locals and a . . .[restrict]militia group from Misrata which had driven into the area. One person, reportedly a local, was killed. He has been named by Buwabat Alwasat as Mohamed Ali.
Residents responded by blockading roads in and out of the area with cars and burning tyres.
“The fighting was between local young men and Misratis”, said a prominent official in Tripoli who asked not to be named but who pointed out that Fashloum, the main centre of resistance to the Qaddafi regime during the revolution before the liberation of the capital, has been firmly opposed to Misrata in the current political crisis and on the side of the HoR and Zintan.
The district is now reported to be quiet but tense. [/restrict]
