Tunis, 18 September 2014:
There have been clashes between Zintani and Gharian forces at Abu Sheiba, near Gharian, according to a . . .[restrict]well-placed Zintani source.
The outcome of the fighting, which occurred yesterday is unknown at present. The Zintanis were known to control the area up until yesterday.
Meanwhile the source say that life in Zintan is becoming more difficult with what is, in effect, a blockade by Libya Dawn and its allies.
There are severe shortages of petrol, of cooking gas and other goods, he source said. “Supplies came from Tripoli before,” he explained. In addition he said, there were long electricity outages in the town and poor internet service. “The situation is not good.”
Keeping in touch with the source today has been far from easy. The Libya Herald has been using Skype in recent days to talk to him but yesterday and today it was impossible to speak. Communication had to be done by typing messages, with replies taking several minutes to arrive.
Despite the privations, the source said, Zintan was determined to continue the battle against Islamists and Libya Dawn and, with its allies, would prevail. [/restrict] [/restrict]
