Tripoli, 6 August 2014:
A Maltese company is starting a weekly ferry service from Malta to Tripoli as of Tuesday, 12 . . .[restrict]August.
A spokesperson for Virtu Ferries told the Libya Herald that the first sailing would leave Malta at 1am on Tuesday morning for the seven-hour crossing. The vessel would then depart Tripoli back to Malta at 12 noon. The cost of the ticket would be €1,000 each way. Infants up would travel free while tickets for children between the ages of two and thirteen would be €500.
Passengers from Tripoli will need a valid passport, and for non-EU citizens a valid Maltese visa.
Some seats had been already booked, the company said.
Because there is no office in Tripoli, those planning to travel from the Libyan capital to Malta would have to get in touch with the company’s booking office by email ([email protected]), phone (00356 22069022), fax (00356 22069303) or by sending a relative or friend to it.
The company’s catamaran San Gwann was in Tripoli on Saturday evacuating employees of a Korean company. [/restrict]
