Tripoli, 16 July 2014:
Tripoli residents are again suffering from petrol and cooking gas shortage, this times as a . . .[restrict]result of the clashes taking place in and around Tripoli International Airport as well as other locations around the city.
The coastal road that links Tripoli with Zawia, where the oil refinery serving the capital is found, has been closed on several occasions in Janzour, cutting off fuel supplies coming from Zawia. Additionally, Brega Oil and Gas Company’s main fuel storage depot is located on Tripoli’s Airport Road, which has been blocked during the fighting.
Much of Tripoli’s cooking gas comes from the Brega depot.
Additionally, most of Tripoli’s banks also remain closed due to the security crisis, adding to the woes of the capital’s populace. [/restrict]
