Tripoli, 17 July 2013:
The head of Murzuk Military Council has threatened that action will be taken by his forces . . .[restrict]if the clashes in and around Tripoli airport do not stop.
“I warn the militias who are carrying out an assault on Tripoli International Airport and deliberately destroying national properties that we will not stand aside and watch in silence,” Murzuk Military Council chief Barka Warduko Al-Mahdi told the Libya Herald.
“We will move if the assaults on the airport continue,” he said, declaring his support for the government. “All revolutionary brigades and army units in the south are ready to intervene militarily to protect the airport and enforce peace at all costs.”
Murzuk, in the south west of the country, is a major Tebu stronghold and Al-Madi is a leading Tebu revolutionary who toppled Qaddafi’s regime in the south. [/restrict]
