Benghazi, 12 July 2014:
One man was killed and 11 wounded in Benghazi yesterday after a car drove . . .[restrict]into a funeral tent erected by a family mourning a deceased member. It has not yet been established if the incident was an accident or deliberate.
Muftah Bugaighis was mourning the death of his brother when he was killed by the car, an official at Benghazi Medical Centre (BMC) told the Libya Herald. His son, who has not been identified, suffered a broken hip in the incident and ten others received minor injuries.
The driver of the car has been held for questioning by Benghazi Security Directorate. Mufteh’s other brother, Mohamed, who was also present at the time and injured his hand, has previously been targeted by assassins.
In June he was targeted when a bomb exploded outside his house. The words “What use to you is Hafter?” were scrawled on the outside wall.
