Tripoli 31 July 2014:
Tripoli was hit by an almost total power blackout this evening after part of the electricity . . .[restrict]distribution system was damaged in the continuing fighting in the capital.
“The armed clashes in the western region and areas such as Seraj this evening cut electricity lines and this caused a total blackout in the western region” GECOL spokesman, Lutfi Ghoma told the Libya Herald.
Ghoma said that it had been possible to restore power to about 80 percent of the area by changing loads and that GECOL’s engineers were working to reconnect the damaged power lines. [/restrict]
