Libya sends 300 soldiers to UK for training

Tripoli, 11 June 2014:

The first batch of revolutionaries absorbed into the national army departed Mitiga Airport for the . . .[restrict]UK for General Purpose Force Training in great fanfare yesterday.

According to Major Adel Al-Akari, the unit will receiving six months of military training.

Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thinni attended the ceremony, as well as General Chief of Staff Abdussalam Jadallah Al-Obaidi and British Ambassador Michael Aron.

In an effort to help Libya to preserve its sovereignty and protect its borders, the the UK have pledged to support Libya’s military through training .

The UK is not the only nation helping to strengthen Libya’s military. Turkey, Italy and the US are doing so as well.

“The 12 March Brigade was sent to Turkey for three months’ training, and the 10 Marching Unit was sent to Italy,” he remarked.

“We are planning to deploy more units for outside training in the coming days,” Akari said, “and we hope that these well-trainined troops will make up the foundation upon which the new Libyan army is built”. [/restrict]
