Tripoli, 17 June 2014:
The campaign in Janzour against vehicles without number plates has been suspended because it has . . .[restrict]been too successful. So many plate-less vehicles have been seized, there is no longer sufficient space to hold them.
The clampdown mounted by the Janzour Security Directorate and the Janzour Night Brigade has netted 170 cars without registration plates.
These are being held until the owners return with genuine plates. However, no more vehicles can be seized because the two parking areas put aside for seized vehicles are full. A local told the Libya Herald that many drivers seemed in no hurry to come and reclaim their cars.
The campaign against tinted windows however continues. Drivers with dark plastic stuck on their windows are being made to pull it off before they are allowed to go on.
