Fifteen Libyan officers graduated from Moscow’s Military University of the Ministry of Defence in . . .[restrict]a special ceremony in the centre of Moscow on Poklonaya Gora.
According to a spokesperson for the Russian embassy, the Military University is one of the most prestigious institutes for military education in Russia.
Those who graduated, he added, specialised in either artillery, infantry, or finance.
The Russians plan to continue to invest in the Libyan military, according to the embassy spokesperson, and other Libyan cadets are currently training in a number of Russian military academies.
“Russia is willing to provide further assistance to the Libyan state in training high class cadres for its army and police forces, as well as any other support in post-crisis state building,” he stated.
Last week, in a further sign of warming relations with Russia, Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thinni asked Moscow to help train Libyan police. [/restrict]
