Tripoli, 27 May 2014:

HNEC has opened a window for members of the public to challenge the candidacy of any . . .[restrict]candidate registered to stand for House of Representatives elections.  From today until 5 June, anyone can raise objections to a particular candidate.

HNEC also released figures on financial ceilings for campaign spending.  Candidates cannot spend more LD 80,000 than on their campaign.  Furthermore, candidates are prohibited from campaigning outside the borders of their constituency.

Meanwhile, HNEC announced that the deadline for Libyans living abroad to register to vote is 15 June.  Polling for those living outside the country will take place 21-22 June.  Polling stations will be located in Canada, the US, the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Malaysia, the UAE, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan and Qatar.
