Retrieving the remains

Misrata/Tripoli, 4 April 2014:

Seven bodies have been exhumed from a mass grave found near Tawergha . . .[restrict]and the Ministry for Martyrs and the Missing has sent a team to the site to start DNA testing to try and identify the victims.

A member of Misrata Local Council Ali Al-Ojta said that it was thought that there were further bodies in the grave. Bad weather had, however, temporarily stopped excavation work, he said.

The head of Tawergha Local Council, Abdurrahman Shikshak, said the council had not heard anything about the grave. “I can’t confirm or deny anything until we are told about this,” he said, adding that there were still a number of missing Tawerghans, which had been reported to the Ministry of Martyrs and Missing.
