Among the companies are specialists in waste water treatment, filtration systems, oil and gas consultancy services, employee training, healthcare diagnostic products, engineering, security and risk management and cattle breeding and genetics.

The mission has been organised by Invest Northern Ireland (Invest NI), the region’s trade development body, which has developed a programme of business exchanges with Libya as well as the Middle East. The agency has organised a series of business visits to Libya with assistance from UK Trade and Industry and commercial staff in Tripoli.

Noel Johnston, Invest NI, commenting on the mission, said: “Libya is becoming an important marketplace for our companies because of the expertise that Northern Ireland offers in key areas such as water treatment, oil and gas, education and training and security services.

“The companies on this mission are keen to explore opportunities to work with businesses in Libya across a range of activities and to build mutually beneficial relationships. Six companies in the group are already represented in Libya and are doing business here. The other three companies are seeking suitable representatives to help in developing business across the country”.

“Virtually all the companies have experience of doing business successfully with the Arab world and are strongly focused on building worthwhile relationships throughout the region.”

Companies wishing to contact these companies should phone 021-3351084 extension 2232 and 2434 at the British Embassy.
