Tripoli, 22 April 2014:
Justice Minister Salah Marghani has denied reports that the Jordanian ambassador to Libya has been released.
“I have no information . . .[restrict]about this,” he told the Libya Herald after denying the reports, which have been published on several news networks and are circulating on social media networks.
Fawwaz Al-Eitan was abducted by armed men six days ago in Tripoli when he was on his way to work. The kidnappers are reportedly demanding the release of a Libyan prisoner, Mohamed Dersi, who is serving a life sentence in Jordan for plotting to bomb an airport.
This is the second time in 48 hours that the government has been forced to quash rumours about Eitan’s release. [/restrict]
