Former head of the High National Election Commission (HNEC) Nuri Elabbar is in hospital after accidentally . . .[restrict]shooting himself in the leg.
The incident occurred in a car when Elabbar was handling his own gun, a source at Benghazi Medical Centre told the Libya Herald. The safety catch was apparently off and the gun was accidentally fired.
Elabbar sustained mild injuries to the stomach and leg from the single bullet, the source added. He has been operated on and is said to be in good health.
Elabbar resigned as head of HNEC early this month.
