Tripoli, 9 March 2014:
Officials in Jalu have denied reports that Syrian refugees are being deported from the town saying . . .[restrict]they are merely conducting a survey to ascertain exact numbers.
Head of security in Jalu Abdilslam Saleh Al-Majbery told the Libya Herald media reports that Syrian refugees in the area were being deported were untrue. “Authorities have decided to make a thorough survey on the rapidly increasing number of Syrian refugees,” he said.
“The town will not deport Syrians or any other refugees as long as they are going through proper procedures and are officially registered with the passport and foreign affairs office,” he said.
He estimated that there were around 10,000 Syrians in the town. [/restrict]
