Tripoli, 30 March 2014:
A group promoting education in the Amazigh language, Tamazight, is to start running a . . .[restrict]free course for would-be teachers of it in Tripoli, starting next week.
Those who attend and complete the intensive 12-day course to the satisfaction of the organisers will be awarded a certificate allowing them to teach the language at basic level.
“This is the first Tamazight course in Tripoli to prepare teachers,” said Mazin Alghali from the Igher Association for Tamazight Education. “Last year, we did the first ‘Basic Level in Tamazight Language’ course.”
The new course is sponsored by the Tamazight Language Studies Centre in Zuwara, Tira (an organisation working for the development of the Amazigh language and culture) and the Ibn Alhaithm School in Gergarish.
The eight-hour-a-day course will start on 6 April and will include Amazigh history, grammar and language.
