Tripoli, 19 January 2014:
A 14 year-old boy was shot dead in Kufra last night, in what is believed to . . .[restrict]be part of a series of tribally-motivated revenge killings in the south of the country.
Suleiman Shaha Kouri was a student at Al-Manarah School in the Tebu district of Al-Shurah in Kufra.
The killing took place at around the same time as an attack on the Sarir oil facility, according to an officer in the Libyan army, Saleh Mohammed. Although the oil field is located some 450 kilometres north of Kufra, local people say they believe the two incidents are related.
Ongoing disputes between members of the Tebu and Zwai tribes have sparked several violent outbreaks in the region. Two weeks ago a Tebu soldier from the Libyan Army, Husain Galma, was also shot dead in Kufra while on his way to Friday prayers. [/restrict]
