A senior navy officer survived an assassination attempt in Benghazi this morning when his car . . .[restrict]exploded while he was having coffee.
Captain Khaled Bazama had parked his in downtown Benghazi after taking his children to school when the explosion occurred. No one was injured in the blast.
The spokesman for Benghazi Joint Security Room, Ibrahim Shara, confirmed the attempt to the Libya Herald . “The explosion took place in Al-Sharif Street in south Benghazi’s Sidi Akhraibish area at 9:30 am,” he said.
One person was killed and six injured on Sunday when a car bomb exploded in Libya at the funeral of the intelligence officer Kamal Bazaza, the first time such tactics had been used in Libya. [/restrict]
