Tripoli, 6 October 2013:
A military funeral for 15 of the soldiers killed in an ambush on the Tarhuna-Bani Walid checkpoint took place today, on the first of three days of national mourning for the dead.
Four soldiers were also injured in the attack and it is reported that the death toll has now risen to 17.
The soldiers were manning the Al-Malti gate at a checkpoint between Tarhuna and Bani Walid when they were ambushed early yesterday morning by an armed group.
There are unconfirmed reports that there has been at least one arrest in connection with the incident. [/restrict]
