The Prime Minister has been kidnapped.
At about 3.30am this morning, two militiamen entered the Corinthia Hotel and seized Ali Zeidan at gunpoint. There was no resistance from the Prime Ministers’ security detail who are believed to have understood that the arrest was official.
At the same moment, it is reported that gunmen entered the Rixos Hotel, next to the Congress buildings, and arrested three GNC members. There are also reports that the Minister of Finance, Alkilani Abdel-Kareem, may also have been picked up.
The Minister of Justice, Salah Marghani, along with the first Deputy Prime Minister, who is acting Interior Minister, Sadiq Abdulkarim, that they are in charge.
In the confused situation, some reports indicate that the militiamen may have visited the Rixos first of all seeking the Prime Minister, who sometimes stays there and sometimes at the Corinthia.
