Benghazi, 19 October 2013:
Rumours that the spokesman for the Benghazi Joint Operations Room, Abdullah Zeidi, had resigned are, like . . .[restrict]so many other rumours in Libya at present, not true.
They had surfaced on Facebook after he told a TV station yesterday that he would resign if he did not see any improvement in the country’s security situation. “But I did not say I had resigned,” Zeidi told the Libya Herald this morning.
With other officials, notably at Benghazi Local Council, unwilling to comment on or confirm events in the city, Zeidi has been a refreshing and invaluable aid to transparency in Benghazi recently. [/restrict]
