Tripoli, 28 September 2013:
Sebha Local Council has condemned plans by Fezzan federalists to set up a “Fezzan Supreme Council”. . . .[restrict]The move was announced on Thursday following a meeting of a number of tribal elders in Obari.
“Sebha Local Council does not support the so-called province of Fezzan especially since those involved did not gather the opinions of the people of the region and the local councils,” said the spokesman for Sebha Local Council, Abubakar Hamza.
He added that the council had only heard about the plan through the media and not through any official organisation in the region.
Officials in Obari meanwhile are reported to have said that those who took part in Thursday’s meeting represented only themselves. [/restrict]
