Tripoli, 2 September 2013:
The head of the General National Congress (GNC) Nuri Abu Sahmain has cancelled breakfast and lunchtime . . .[restrict]buffets saying that some Congress members spend more time than necessary eating, drinking and chatting during breaks.
He also said that the buffet cost the country a lot of money, pointing out that everyone at Congress received a salary.
Abu Sahmain’s decision, however, has not been welcomed by all Congress members. “I left my home very quickly without having my breakfast this morning and then I was surprised that there is no buffet,” one member of Congress told the Libya Herald yesterday.
“Congress should do something about this decision, because it is impossible to work half of the day just with water,” the GNC member added.
Members should also be punctual and stay for the whole sitting, he said, instead of drifting in and out when they wanted. He said that from now on members would be prohibited from leaving sittings early. [/restrict]
