Tripoli, 29 September 2013:
The Accident and Emergency Department at Misrata Hospital, in cooperation with the Royal London Hospital, is holding a . . .[restrict]Trauma Study Day for medical professionals on 5 October.
The study day will focus on advanced methods of treating facial trauma and will feature lectures by top London specialists including three Libyan doctors who work at the Royal London Hospital. One of these, Fathi Elzowawi, has organised the course.
The day is aimed at junior and specialist doctors but anyone can attend. The study day, along with lunch and a certificate of attendance, is being sponsored by Misrata Hospital and is free of charge.
Misrata Hospital has a very small unit dealing with facial trauma manned by just two doctors, a staff member told the Libya Herald. The day, he hopes, will give a boost the department’s knowledge and skills as well as spreading best practice.
Talks will include high velocity injuries, head and brain injuries, peripheral nerve injuries and facial soft tissue injuries. There will also be two joint panel discussions, the first on the salvage of a seriously-injured patient and the second on combined team management of complex injuries.
There will be around 30 doctors taking part in the day and the organisers are expecting at least 100 attendees.
